Udyogwardhini Shikshan Sanstha (USS) is an NGO registered under The Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950, The Societies Registration Act, 1860, Exempted under Income Tax 80G and FCRA Registered with ISO Certification 9001:2015. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at Udyogwardhini Shikshan Sanstha is a broad umbrella consisting of Entrepreneurship & Skill development initiatives following a self-regulatory framework to carry out social, sustainable, and developmental responsibilities. Udyogwardhini has done considerable work in skill as well as in entrepreneurship development in various sectors for various corporates across Maharashtra, Telangana, Goa & Andhra Pradesh.

Udyogwardhini Shikshan Sanstha has been nurturing business ideas of the rural population and has turned enthusiastic individuals into successful entrepreneurs. We have uplifted various villages in India thereby creating 1st generation entrepreneurs. The rural population never thought that they could actually run their own businesses and provide employment to others. But in association with TATA capital and Swades Foundation, and various other CSR partners, Udyogwardhini has made this possible. Under CSR initiatives, we have trained and guided them in setting up low funding local businesses like goat farming, food processing, and many more.

Skill development programs have been a boon for those who were hunting for jobs and were working on low daily wages. We have conducted innumerable skill development programs in association with TATA Housing projects, CREDAI National, and various other CSR partners. These programs have created a real impact in the lives of the participants as they have got full-time, permanent jobs which would have otherwise been difficult considering their minimal or no educational qualification and technical knowledge. Udyogwardhini has brought in considerable improvement in their wages.

NDTV Profit & Zee Business has taken cognizance of our CSR initiatives & telecasted films on our initiative named ‘Changing Lives'. Tata Housing Limited has recognized us 3 times by giving us the "Best NGO partner" title. Our success stories have been featured in TATA Capitals TV commercials.

Corporate Social Responsibility was made mandatory for the companies in April 2014. However, our CSR pursuit dates back to more than 30 years with a focus on developing India's 65% tribal and rural population. Preferred NGO Partners Over 15 Cooperates to implement Entrepreneurship & Skill Development.

Impact - Transforming Lives

The journey began with Entrepreneurship training to 300 employees of VIP Industries Limited in 1995. Mico Bosch, HAL & Siemens also preferred Udyogwardhini to impart Entrepreneurship training to their apprentices in 1996. Ashoka Buildcon Limited joined this movement initially to impart skill training to their supervisors. Looking at the great results in an increase in productivity they have made it a regular feature by assigning Udyogwardini to run their training arm ‘Ashoka Training Institute’ since 1997.

Our results then attracted Tata Communications Limited to impart Entrepreneurship & Skill Development training to socially & economically deprived community youth in 2009. Other Tata group of companies like Tata Projects Limited Hyderabad, Tata housing Limited, Tata Capital Limited also identified Udyogwardhini to impact such training in various trades across various parts of India. Surprisingly, none of these Tata companies have their activities in the Nashik region.

We are currently providing skill and entrepreneurship training in rural areas in cooperation with many private organizations and CREDAI National, Delhi. One of our achievements in women empowerment is evangelizing the thought process of the tribal communities. The women who were earlier not allowed to step outside their homes are now regular employees of companies and earning a monthly salary of Rs. 8000/-. Udyogwardhini has also trained ladies for entrepreneurship development programs in Nellore & Mammidipudi (Hydrabad) where after completion of the program the ladies have formed a society trust where these ladies can raise funds and grow their business. We have directed our special CSR activities towards the SC/ST/Underprivileged unemployed youth in rural areas. We have trained them in entrepreneurship abilities and competencies that would earn them the entitled social status. We go an extra mile to reach people in such areas by conducting training at makeshift training centers, padas, village centers, construction sites, temples, etc. People who were once striving to meet daily needs and are now living a fulfilling and sustainable life through the provision of our CSR programs.

We are obliged towards our collaborators, which range from topmost MNCs to government bodies and education/ training institutes. We have received continuing support from their end to achieve our CSR objectives. They have been our constant source of motivation and pillar of strength in our cruise to stimulate integrated development inclusive of social, environmental, and economic impact.

Credai National, PNB Housing Finance, RPG Foundation, Nihchal Israni Foundation, Blue Cross Laboratories, Swades Foundation, etc are other corporates & NGOs join hands with Udyogwardhini to implement various Skill & Entrepreneurship initiatives in various sectors. We design programs based on the local needs, market demand as well as preferences of the corporates to have great results.

Udyogwardhini has played a significant role in enhancing the lives of unemployed people and uplifting their income level by empowering them with entrepreneurial and technical skills.

Udyogwardhini is providing skill and entrepreneurship training even in rural remote areas like – Barshingve, Daranewadi, Kanadwadi, Kashusthewadi, Ghoti, Igatpuri, Peth, Surgana, Yeola, Nandgaon villages in Nashik and Mammidipudi and Nellore villages in Association with various CSR partners.

In skill-based training in small pada’s (small villages) of Igatpuri where we trained ladies for sewing machine operators and got them placed at Samsonite India Ltd. at Nashik. This also requires developing a mindset among the agrarians to think big. The first and foremost thing is making them understand the importance & benefit of the training given to them. Since these people are engaged in agriculture & allied activities for their livelihood, the significance of these skill training in their lives is very less.

EDP aims at developing their entrepreneurial competencies; give them knowledge about A support system to set up SMEs(lots of schemes are available for them), empower them to prepare project reports, market surveys, action plans to make their successful enterprise and more importantly, develop a positive attitude.

EDP’s conducted so far for SC candidates have proved this. Lots of participants who didn’t have a background became successful entrepreneurs. Interactions with them are also an important part of this program which will help them to connect and remove misunderstandings about entrepreneurship.

This program intends to develop the entrepreneurial competencies of the youth to become successful in a competitive market. Besides developing core competencies it also enriches them with support system schemes, Ecosystem for start-ups, Documentation, Latest Technological Development, Upcoming Business Opportunities, and Business Development Plan preparations.

Entrepreneurship has an important role to play in the development of a country. It is one of the most important inputs in economic development. The number and competence of entrepreneurs affect the economic growth of the country.

Entrepreneurs are by nature and definition job creators, as opposed to job seekers. The simple translation is that when you become an entrepreneur, there is one less job seeker in the economy, and then you provide employment for multiple other job seekers. This kind of job creation by new businesses is the goal of economic development. Entrepreneurs generate employment both directly and indirectly. Directly, self-employment as an entrepreneur and indirectly by starting many industrial units they offer jobs to millions.

Through these STED programs, we have not only established/created entrepreneurs but also generated employment opportunities for others developing enduring livelihoods for the long term. We are proud to announce that through STED Project we are able to generate employment for Total One thousand and Twenty Three people (1023). Out of which 806 are males and 217 are female employees.

We can say that through the STED Project Udyogwardhini has successfully and created “Entrepreneurs” in true terms.

Huge Capital Formation

Start-ups promote capital formation by mobilizing the idle savings of the public. They employ their own as well as borrowed resources from Banks for setting up their enterprises. This has led to value addition and the creation of wealth, which is very essential for the industrial and economic development of the country.

Any start-up needs investment to stand up and we have more than 151 startups that have created huge capital formation and cash flow. There is a heavy transaction of funds by means of self-arranged funds, bank loans and other means like pulling funds from relatives/ friends (unsecured loans) etc.

We have created a churn of around Two Hundred Thirty-Seven million, Forty-Five Thousand, rupees (Rs. 237,045,000.00 ) in the economy. The bifurcation of various segments of various sources of funds is as below:-

bar chart for Huge Capital Formation

One hundred Forty-Nine million, Three Hundred Twenty-Seven Thousand, Rupees (Rs.149,3,27000.00) were sourced from the personal and unsecured loan and Rupees Eighty-Seven million, Seven Hundred Eighteen thousand, (Rs.87,718,000.00) were borrowed from the banks. That makes a total loan of Two Hundred Thirty-Seven million, Forty-Five Thousand, rupees (Rs.237,045,000.00)

All these startups make up an Annual turnover of Seven Hundred Sixty-Seven Million, Eight Hundred Forty-Five Thousand, Rupees (Rs.767,845,000.00)

Accomplishment

The STED project received a very huge response from the youth of Nashik and the nearby areas of Nashik. This project has given birth to “Entrepreneurs” in various sectors. All the units are unique in their own kind. We also have female entrepreneurs who have left their mark in the field of manufacturing and the health care sector. Each participant has created his / her identity and now is an established “entrepreneur” in society.

The program has also helped Nashik city to grow economically and socially. Through the program, we not only created Entrepreneurs but also generated employment opportunities for many skilled and unskilled labourers. Thus created a highway for employment generation

In 4 years there is a huge application and transaction of funds in means of secured and unsecured loans which also contributes to the exponential economic growth of the city.
