Chimani Environment clearance

Environmental clearance is a procedure to receive clearance from the government for specific projects which create environmental pollution. The government has established a list of projects which need environmental clearance such as mining, thermal power plants, infrastructure etc.

The EIA Notification assigns projects to one of two groups, either Category A or Category B. The Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change approve Category A projects, whereas the State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority approves Category B projects.

PROCESS OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEARANCE LICENSE:

  • The Environment Protection Act functions as a kind of umbrella legislation, assisting the Central government in coordinating the activities of central and state environmental authorities
  • Identifying the location

  • A location for the planned project should be chosen that adheres to existing regulations. If the planned site does not meet existing requirements, the proponent must offer an alternate location for the project.
  • Screening

  • The project proponent will then determine which category the proposed project belongs into and whether it requires an environmental clearance and a study of environmental effects.
  • Public hearings

  • Public hearings are a required phase in the environmental clearance procedure for certain development projects. It is a component of the EIA study. This enables the public in a given area to communicate their concerns and opinions about a proposed project to the project proponent and the government.
  • Application

  • After that, the project's proponent must file an application for environmental clearance. The application process is conducted entirely online.
