Masonry is the core trade of building and construction. It is a technical job where one needs to position the bricks, stones or concrete blocks as part of a construction. The demand for professional masons has become the need of an hour due to the boom in the construction industry. Many of the people who work in masonry do not undergo formal school training. Neither do they attend vocational training at college. They learn skills through informal training. These training courses are based on conventional technology and concepts. The standard of the teaching is therefore just as strong as the master's abilities and his willingness and capacity to transmit these skills. In general, unskilled employees demonstrate lower productivity, lack of understanding of quality, high loss of materials and lack of sufficient work knowledge or skills. Due to this there is a need for skill-based training of masons in order to resolve such issues.
