Digital Signature Certificates (DSCs) are the electronic counterparts to physical or paper certificates such as identification documents, driver's licenses, passports, or PAN cards. Today, organizations and businesses require a digital signature certificate to improve communication and transactions with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. These certificates can be beneficial for a variety of online transactions that involve digital evidence of identity and the secure receipt and transmission of data over the internet.
A Certifying Authority (CA) issues a Class 3 DSC after thoroughly verifying the user's identity and gives a higher level of assurance to the relying party (generally the receiver of such digitally signed document).
Class 3 DSCs are used to file electronic documents and electronic submissions of tenders and auctions, e-bidding, e-auctioning, patent filing, logo filing, Registrar of corporations e-filing, VAT return e-filing, TDS return e-filing, income tax e-filing, and more. SCs DSCs come in a variety of forms. Class 3 DSCs meet the most stringent cryptographic security requirements and can be issued in the names of both individuals and businesses/organizations.
DSC Class 2 is used to file paperwork with the Registrar of Companies, such as the annual report, income tax return, MCA forms, and audit reports. The identification of a person is verified against a trustworthy and pre-verified database in Class 2 DSC. It is provided for both commercial and private use.
